Infant Reflexes that do not Integrate and stay retained can Lead to Developmental Delays or interfere with function.
Primitive Reflexes are the first part of the brain to develop and should only remain active for the first few months of life. In typical development, these reflexes naturally inhibit in sequential order during the first year, and replacement reflexes, called postural reflexes, emerge. Postural reflexes are more mature patterns of response that control balance, coordination, and sensory-motor development.
Retained primitive reflexes often times occur in disorders like ADHD, sensory processing disorder, autism, and learning disabilities. The persistence of primitive reflexes contributes deficits with coordination, balance, sensory perceptions, fine motor skills, sleep, immunity, energy levels, impulse control, concentration, and all levels of social, emotional, and academic learning. The good news is that retained primitive reflexes can be integrated at any age.

Postural Alignment Therapy focuses on your body as a whole and treating the underlying cause of your pain, musculoskeletal issues and injuries. Many types of chronic pain and injuries are caused by the slow deterioration of your postural systems and the only way to get complete, long-lasting relief is by correcting your postural imbalances through exercise therapy, muscle re-education and taping.
Visual motor integration can be defined as the coordination of visual perception and fine motor control. Visual Motor Integration allows us to use our eyes and our hands in a coordinated manner to perform tasks such as copying letters or numbers, forming shapes, copying patterns, or other tasks. Visual-Motor Integration (VMI) is the ability to integrate visual input with motor output – commonly referred to as ‘eye-hand coordination’. This is how we plan motor tasks, such as threading a needle, tying shoe laces, catching or hitting a ball. It is also essential in academic performance.
